This was what I posted to cake_decorating yesterday.  I'm sleepy so I'm just reposting it without changing it. (Ignore most of it and just look at the pics :)

The friends being Henry, Edward, James, Percy, Gordon and Harold.  And the Fat Controller's there too.

Made it for my friend's kid's birthday.  The kid's one month younger than mine.  (btw, made it for free).  It was my second decorated cake ever and she did offer to pay, but I told her to get one from Kroger just in case and so the kid had two birthday cakes.  The inside was multicoloured.  I forgot to take  pictures but his parents did, but it was red, yellow (it was a lemon cake) and blue.  They seemed to be impressed (hee hee hee... it's funny how people will be impressed with a little food colour ;)

Anyway, just out of curiosity, how much would you charge for something like this?  It took me forever  to make (I did make the whole darn thing) and that's why I figured there'd be no price she could pay me to make up for my time.  I did eventually figure out a really neat way to make their faces and perhaps I shouldn't have used marshmallow fondant again (I never seem to learn... that stuff is pure evil.  I wonder why, but it always is so springy and never holds a shape -- finally let it dry for a bit and added some gum-tex to it and it worked better, but I still have to get the gum targwhateverhoweveryouspellit).  Anyway, gordon was the very first one I made so he's not the greatest and percy was the last, so I think he's close to perfect.

Also, some things are less than perfect but I was making the stupid thing right upto the last minute (the party had already started) and I still had to get myself and my kid ready!

This was the inspiration cake: couture cakes  (The cake made for DEVIN) and this was the other one: ttcfortwins

Anyway, here's the cake:

He looks like a pile of ... brown stuff ;)  I made him with marshamallow fondant because I was low on the good stuff.  IT was a total bitch to work with.  Sort of like melted toffee.  I finally dumped a whole load of powdered sugar on top to make it less sticky so I cold mould him.

Well, I made him finally to satisfy people.  He's huge (compared to the others).  He's filled with candy floss (as I call it) or cotton candy as others call it here.

So T took me to L (place) today to buy new Americolor food colours.  They sucked, but I used them anyway.  They made the fondant rather wet, but.... as cookie monster would say, Whatever....

C is for me and this is good enough for me! :)

Camera's memory card was full and he has to dry properly.  Took me 2.5 hours.  That's why I'm up at 2:45 a.m. (had to load the pics to my photobucket and fb account too :)

Anyway.... I'm super proud of myself.

I made this today.  Kid's birthday's coming up soon.  Did part of it while she was sleeping and part while she was awake.  He still has to dry.  I took out the supports for the pics.  Anyway, I want to try to make him again so I can get him right.  Hopefully I can make something decent for her birthday.

Ok, I spent about 2 hours on Tuesday and about 6 hours today and finally finished my kids costume (Btw, thanks to mad_m   community.livejournal.com/sew_hip/2165981.html#cutid1 for the inspiration). She's well under 2 btw...
I need to make some adjustments.  I need to remove the swan and attach it with press studs so she can take the swan off  if she needs to.  Also, she keeps pulling the feathers.  I couldn't find a tan bodysuit anywhere (we found the perfect coloured long sleeved shirt in the boys section but it was part of an ugly outfit that was $24).  So she'll be wearing pink leggings and a pink long sleeved shirt.  Hopefully it'll not be too cold so people can see it.  I have a feeling that not many people will get it though.

Wow! I don't believe (in) it! [Jan. 28th, 2007|04:17 pm]

Not bad for someone who hasn't read the bible in 25 years maybe, eh? :) I mean thank God for a very good memory ;) Wooo.... of course, some of it was pure luck. And they do help you out a bit with some ridiculous answers. Todd just said, "So, you're trying to tell me that you're not a heathen?" Hee hee hee... he scored 100%. I was convinced I'd score below 40%. I was guessing on most of the answers ;)

You know the Bible 82%!

Wow! You are truly a student of the Bible! Some of the questions were difficult, but they didn't slow you down! You know the books, the characters, the events . . . Very impressive!

Japanese Class [Jan. 18th, 2007|10:21 pm]
Edward Elric
Today we had to read and practice a dialogue in class that had one person saying "Boku..."

Me: Sensei, I know I'm female, but can I still use "boku"?
Sensei: Ah... everyone, Cherie-san has asked me a good question. Don't use Boku if you are female. (Me in the background: I want to use it anyway, I want to use it anyway...)
Sensei: No, no, you can't
Me: *fist closed* okay then, I'm going to use "Ore"
(My conversation partner Tori bursts out laughing...)

Everyone else didn't get the joke.

Anyway, we volunteered to say the dialogue as an example to the class. I was a good girl and used "watashi"

:(

In other news, I've got a Japanese grad student who's willing to talk to me in Japanese ;) I've arranged to meet her on Monday. She's a linguistics student. Only problem is that I don't know what I want to talk about.

Oh and Ochame... Hee hee hee about Isshin. And we use Anime-suki for stuff. I guess now that the Bleach filler is over I might start getting desperate enough to watch stuff raw.
